ALL FACE TO FACE WORKSHOPS ARE CANCELED FOR 2020
All ICARE face-to-face workshops are canceled for the duration of 2020. The ICARE Project anticipates reschedulingthe ICARE Academies and the ICARE Train the Trainer Institute after the pandemic crisis has been resolved; we hope in 2021. All registered participants may request a full refund by contacting Erin Heath, of Event Source Professionals, Inc. (ESP) at [email protected] or 214-282-6780. Alternatively, the ICARE Project will apply participants' registration fee to a rescheduled ICARE program of their choice.
Currently the ICARE Project is developing ICARE Dialogues: Optimizing Success in a Changing Environment (ICARE Dialogues). This three-part online training opportunity for IACUC members and staff, and Animal Care and Use Program personnel of research institutions. ICARE Dialogues is offered at no cost to participants, but registration is required.
Registration is expected to open shortly. The ICARE Dialogues registration site will be located on the ICARE website (https://olaw.nih.gov/education/incare-interagency). OLAW will notify the community when registration opens via the OLAW listserve and social media.
ICARE TRAIN THE TRAINER INSTITUTE (TTI)

ABOUT
Train the Trainer Institutes (TTI) teach institutional training personnel to use active learning in their training programs. Participants will engage in active learning applied to IACUC subject matter content and modules that address the scientific basis of active learning pedagogy. Participants will be coached and mentored by experienced facilitators who are also IACUC subject matter experts from the federal, academic and private sectors. The facilitators will help participants develop the skills and knowledge they need to develop and deliver active learning IACUC training. See more about our ICARE faculty here.
The ICARE TTI will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM through Friday, October 16, 2020, 8:00 AM - 4:15 PM (with optional group work in the evenings 7:30-10:00 PM Tues/Wed/Thu).

WHO CAN ATTEND
Participation is open to institutional animal care and use program trainers and IACUC administrators. Institutions are encouraged to send two (2) or more trainers to participate in the workshop as that will facilitate implementation of active learning training at the institution.
Colleagues from outside the US are welcome to attend the workshop, however the target audience is IACUC members and staff and animal program personnel from US institutions. The curriculum presented is focused on US federal standards.
The number of attendees at an ICARE TTI is limited to 36. Space will be filled on a first come-first serve basis. If the program is filled, you will have the option to add your name to the waitlist on the registration form. Registrants should note that the ICARE training is intensive. WHAT TO EXPECT
Attendees will work in both large interactive sessions and small facilitated breakout groups. In all of the sessions, attendees will engage in active learning activities such as interactive presentations, group work, and discussions. Active learning increases effectiveness of adult education in factual and theoretical understanding of scientific and ethical issues by engaging the learner in activities that require the application of high-level concepts.
ICARE training is intensive. Participants are fully engaged in content throughout the training and are not able to conduct other activities such as email, conference calls and laboratory or office management activities during the training day.
