ICARE ACADEMY - ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA
WHO CAN ATTEND
The curriculum at the ICARE Academy focuses on topics that facilitate effective IACUC function. Please see the schedule HERE. Participation is open to those involved in animal care and use programs, including IACUC members and staff, Institutional Officials, veterinarians, animal facilities personnel, administrators, consultants, and compliance and regulatory personnel.
The number of participants at an ICARE Academy is limited to 36. Space will be filled on a first come-first served basis. If the program is sold out, you will have the option to add your name to the waitlist on the registration form.
Colleagues from outside the US are welcome to attend the workshop, however the target audience is IACUC members and staff and animal program personnel from US institutions. The curriculum presented is focused on US federal standards.
During this training workshop, participants will be coached and mentored by experienced facilitators who are also IACUC subject matter experts from the Federal, academic and private sectors.

TRAVEL
Please do not purchase air travel tickets until you have received a confirmation of your registration.
Participants should plan to arrive intothe area on Monday, September 9, 2019 and plan to depart on flights at 7:00 PM or later on Wednesday, September 11 or anytime on Thursday, September 12, 2019.
Washington Reagan (DCA) Airport is recommended because it is the closest airport (4 miles) to the conference hotel. Shuttle services from Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall International (45 miles) and Dulles International Airport (32 miles) are also available.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Attendees will work in both large interactive sessions and small facilitated breakout groups. In all of the sessions, attendees will engage in learning activities such as interactive presentations, group work, and discussions.
The ICARE Academy will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, 8:00 AM - 5:15 PM through Wednesday, September 11, 2019, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
ICARE Academy participants work in facilitated breakout groups. ICARE training is intensive. Participants are fully engaged in content throughout the training and are not able to conduct other activities such as email, conference calls and laboratory or office management activities during the training day.
