DOLPHIN PLAYDATE

Enjoy a visit to the Dolphin Research Center, a nonprofit research and education facility founded in 1984 by Jayne Shannon-Rodriguez and Armando "Mandy" Rodriguez. Their goal was to ensure the dolphins had a home here for life, and in doing so to establish a unique education and research facility.

During your visit you may see DRC working on various cognition and behavior studies.   The bottlenose dolphins and California sea lions presently living here all-natural, sea water lagoons provide a range of personalities and backgrounds. Over half of the dolphin residents were born at the Center, while the other members have either come from other facilities or were rescued, rehabilitated and deemed unreleasable back into the wild by the Government and now have a forever home at Dolphin Research Center.

See dolphins and sea lions swim, splash and play in their natural seawater home. Choose from Paint With A Dolphin where you  choose two colors and hold a canvas while your dolphin paints you a one-of-a-kind masterpiece!

Or Shake a flipper, give a hand signal, have your new friend imitate your behavior, and take a spin in the lagoon with a dorsal pull courtesy of the best tour guides on the water!

DAY TRIP TO THE "END OF THE EARTH"

Key West is 4 miles long, 2 miles wide, and full of quirky charm.  This trip to the southernmost city in the continental United States feels like a Caribbean getaway.  The city’s location results in an eclectic cultural mix where people go barefoot and chickens roam the streets.

Though it may be best known for Hemingway and Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, you’ll, and in its eclectic residents.

Guests will step back in time and find the real essence of the place in its very particular style of Victorian and Queen Anne architecture.  Most notable are the rooms and gardens that witnessed the most prolific period of Nobel Prize winner Ernest Hemingway's writing career.   Wandering  through the lush grounds and enjoying the whimsy of the more than sixty cats – many famous for their five toes -  that live at the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum is a highlight of this historical tour in addition to having the opportunity to enjoy local fare (did someone say Key Lime Pie) and shopping.
