Ms. Pombo Castro holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and a post-graduate degree in quality assurance from the Central University of Venezuela, Caracas. Ms. Pombo Castro started her professional career in 1994 as a quality control analyst at the National Institute of Hygiene “Rafael Rangel”, in Caracas. Throughout her career, Ms Pombo Castro participated in a fellowship at the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) at the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA), and worked as a temporary advisor for the World Health Organization, on various topics, including vaccine prequalification. In 2008, Ms. Pombo Castro's work with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) underscored her dedication to harmonizing regulatory practices in biotherapeutics across Latin America and the Caribbean. Since 2012, Mrs. Pombo Castro acts as the Advisor on Vaccines and Biotechnological Products. Recently, she was appointed Unit Chief, for Quality and Regulation of Medicines and Health Technologies.
