Graduated as Doctor of Medicine (1993) and First Degree Specialist in Comprehensive General Medicine (1997) at the "Salvador Allende" Faculty of the Superior Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana. He has held numerous responsibilities within the Cuban Health System: Municipal Director of Health of the Cerro municipality in the Havana province; Head of the Independent Section of Optics of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba; Head of the Department of Medical Technologies of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba; Director of the National Electromedicine Center, Commercial Director of the Cuban Medical Supplies Company; and since 2019 he has been the Head of the Department of Medical Equipment and Devices of the Center for the State Control of Medicines, Medical Equipment and Devices (CECMED) where he directs all activities and functions related to the regulatory control of medical equipment and devices in Cuba. He participates, on behalf of CECMED, in the IMDRF meetings and activities and, in the main WHO/PAHO working groups for these issues. Since August 2022 he is Director of the PAHO / WHO CUB-26 Collaborating Center for the Regulation of Health Technologies.
He has fulfilled an internationalist mission in Venezuela and Guatemala. He has participated in more than 50 national and international scientific publications and events. He has taught courses and participated in research projects.
