Julie Brewer is the Director of the Community Food Systems Division in USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service. Julie has over 30 years of experience helping communities identify and fill gaps in their food systems and has worked to improve nutrition and food security at the local, state, and national level. She led child nutrition and WIC policy teams at FNS for more than a decade and served as the program examiner for SNAP and Child Nutrition at the Office of Management and Budget before returning to FNS. Julie has a bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Performance and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Montana. She is the mother of four grown children and was promoted to grandmother in 2023!
